Day 16

So one pilgrim on the bus, one walking.. 28kms from villadangos de paramo to astorga. Mom headed out early and walked with a young pilgrim from majorca(sp?) and Sandra from Bolivia. Took the scenic route but not sure it was the best choice as there was lots of rocks to walk on. We have been calculating our distances by Westwood.. As in a Westwood and a half to go!

I took the bus.. That went fairly well. My blood pressure went down significantly after I was finally ON the bus that in fact came.. It was late but I waited patiently.. Or not. Once I arrived in astorga I was pleasantly surprised by a beautiful cathedral plaza and huge! market.. Fresh cherries and some chocolates. Happy days. I wandered around and saw lots of beautiful squares and a little park.

In astorga now.. Beautiful place.. And chocolate capital of Spain.. Umm yes!!! We are sitting in the square now waiting for our meal watching the little tikes entertain themselves on scooters and playing "soccer" Super cute.

Tomorrow we plan to both walk. I'm playing it safe with the walk one day bus one day plan so that I can hopefully continue till the end.

Another interesting thing.. Prices for meals are the same whether you have water or wine.. Ha!
